ABOUT ME
Artist. Designer.

Hi, my name is Lola Hawthorne and I am currently a third-year student at Wimbledon College of Arts, UAL, studying BA Theatre Design.
I previously studied Level 3 Architecture and Interior Design, however chose to move to Theatre Design when furthering my education as I felt this had much more freedom and I could explore a lot more disciplines, including costume and lighting.
I am mainly interested in puppetry and puppet design, projection, and video making/ editing! I love making inanimate objects come to life, through their breathing and movement, and have been lucky enough to work with/ train under people such as Mervyn Millar and other incredible puppet makers and directors!
I also have a huge passion for working with children, and am interested into delving into the world of children's theatre and educating children in the arts; I have a full enhanced DBS check and have lots of experience working with children; it is the most rewarding job I have ever had and I would love to combine my two passions, however this may be.
I also thrive in collaborative work, being able to discuss my ideas with peers and bounce ideas off each other is, personally, the most exciting part of being a creative; I have created so many projects I never could have dreamed of due to having others around me to enhance or hold on to ideas I initially made as passing comments, or make suggestions I never even would have thought of!
